Our Services
At Proaxis Therapy, we offer the highest standard of quality service backed by advanced research and proven techniques. We are proud to offer our world-class treatment to patients of all walks of life—from elite athletes to everyday people.
Our services include physical therapy and occupational therapy for the treatment of the following:
Physical Therapy
Physical Therapy (PT) is a unique science and art that utilizes a wide variety of procedures to restore function to the body, reduce pain and help prevent future injury. Under the supervision of a Proaxis Therapy Physical Therapist, specific patient goals are determined and a customized treatment plan is created to address these goals. Various physical therapy modalities and techniques may be utilized during treatment, including, traction, electrical stimulation, ultrasound, ice and heat, with a focus in therapeutic exercise and manual therapy.
Occupational Therapy
The primary goal of Occupational Therapy (OT) is to enable people to participate in activities of everyday life. By reducing pain, assisting functional movement through adaptive devices or ergonomically modifying a patient’s environment, Occupational Therapists enhance a patient’s ability to better support participation and regain the life they once knew before injury. Located at our Simpsonville Clinic, our Occupational Therapists offer a specialty in hand therapy and the rehabilitation of fine motor skills.
Orthopedic Rehabilitation
Our team works with individuals who have undergone a total hip or knee replacement, sustained trauma to a bone, or have a bone or soft tissue disease. The Orthopedic Rehabilitation uses a standardized, functional and outcomes-oriented approach to care that focuses specifically on the injury or surgical need. We focus on helping patients regain their strength, mobility and endurance so they can return home and resume their regular routines.
Sports
Through an active and educational continuum of treatment, our therapists assist the patient in returning to normal, daily activities as soon as possible. By providing comprehensive education in anatomy, pathology and care of the specific sport injury, the patient is empowered to participate in his or her recovery and in the prevention of future injury.
Aquatic Therapy
Aquatic therapy incorporates the properties of water to positively impact movement, strength and function. Water is a safe and effective medium to exercise specific muscle groups and joints with substantially less compressive forces than other types of exercise. Aquatic therapy techniques are designed to move against the buoyancy of water, facilitating exercise by making movement easier and less painful. We utilize techniques that build on water’s natural resistance to improve quality and strength of movement. The therapeutic, non-weight-bearing properties of water create an ideal rehabilitation environment, especially for post-operative patients or those with back injuries.
Vestibular Rehabilitation
The vestibular rehabilitation program is designed to help people suffering from dizziness, vertigo, imbalance and other inner ear disorders. Vestibular rehabilitation is a conservative, non-invasive and drug-free option for combating dizziness and balance difficulties. A clinician will develop an individualized treatment plan that includes exercises to strengthen posture, gait and components of the balance system (eyes, ears and legs). A home exercise program may be designed specifically to the patient’s tolerance, physical condition and diagnosis.
Men’s Health Program
he Men’s Health Program at Proaxis Therapy is focused on the treatment of urinary incontinence. It is not uncommon for men to complain of symptoms of urinary incontinence following prostate surgery. Recent research has shown that physical therapy in men can reduce the symptoms and duration of urinary incontinence following surgery. A program which includes dietary modifications, instruction in a kegel exercise program, core strengthening, and instruction in proper body mechanics and posturing can help to successfully treat leakage. Biofeedback can be utilized as necessary for men who have difficulty finding and contracting the pelvic floor muscles correctly.
Women’s Health Program
The Women’s Health Program at Proaxis Therapy is a special type of physical therapy that focuses on improving the health and fitness of women throughout all phases of life. Click here for more information.
Workers Compensation
When injuries at work result in damage to the musculoskeletal parts of the body, it is often necessary for the treating physician to send the injured employee to a physical therapist. This type of physical therapy is focused to develop, maintain or restore the employee’s normal body movements in order for the employee to return to work. Proaxis Therapy specializes in the areas of pre-employment testing, Lift Assessments and Functional Capacity Evaluations, FCEs.
Total Joint Health Program
At Proaxis Therapy, we understand that total joint surgery can be filled with questions and uncertainties. That’s why we have partnered with the area’s best orthopedic physicians, nurses, hospitals and medical facilities to offer you Total Joint Health™. Our uniquely designed program focuses on a team approach that allows our patients to get back to living active, healthy lifestyles as quickly as possible.
